Tenement Museum

Schedule: Friday - Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6:30 pm

                  Thurs 10am - 8:30 pm

 

The Tenement Museum tells the story of immigrants in the city of New York, founded in 1988, it offers several tours, visiting apartments fully restored times visits.

It is located in an apartment complex that housed more than 7,000 immigrants from 20 different nationalities, between 1863 and 1935. All these people had something in common; faces major challenges with very few resources at their disposal.

Exhibitions:

There are three ways to know the museum:

  • Meet the people who lived at 97 Orchard building by actors who play them.
  • Visit the apartments in the building 97 Orchard.
  • Walk the Lower East Side neighborhood and know how immigrants formed the neighborhood and implemented their culture.


Tickets: You can buy tickets and view your schedule by clicking here, you buy tickets online you claim at the museum entrance. The museum has guided tours are hired independently and have a duration between 60 and 90 minutes.

Our advice:

  • Often several Tours begin at the same time, pay attention that you join the right group.
  • The photographs are prohibited.
  • The recommended age is for over 12 years.
  • If this is your first visit it is best to start with the tour "Getting By", in which two different eras apartments and an apartment in ruins visited.
